Film Screening & Pie at the Armory
In the spirit of the Hoosick Quilt Project this spring and summer, HAYC3 announces a special free showing of the movie ‘How to Make an American Quilt,’ starring Winona Ryder, Ellen Burstyn, Anne Bancroft and a host of other stars, at the HAYC3 Armory in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. on Thursday evening, May 22, at 7 p.m.
The film is the story of Finn Todd, a bride-to-be and a young graduate student preparing for marriage to her fiancé Sam. When regret about the end of her single life intrudes, she goes home to visit her grandmother, where, over the making of her wedding gift by a group of quilting-bee friends, laughter, bickering, love and advice lead her to an understanding of what her future holds. The movie is rated PG-13 and is suitable for families, mothers, daughters, grandmothers, and anyone interested in quilting, family lore and community.
In keeping with the all-American quilting theme, we will be serving slices of pie with a variety of fillings. Admission to the movie is free; voluntary donations for the pie will be applied directly to the cost of making the Hoosick Barn Quilts and the Hoosick Barn Quilt Trail Map.
