Four Winds Nature Institute offers the chance for adults to share their
love of nature with local youngsters.

For many years students at the Village School of North Bennington and other local schools have had the opportunity to be actively involved in the Four Winds Nature Institute’s nature program, thanks to the volunteer efforts of dedicated Bennington, North Bennington, Pownal and Shaftsbury community members. This year we have several volunteer openings available in North Bennington and hope you’ll consider joining us.

Although the program means a great deal to the school and children, the time commitment for volunteers is minimal while the rewards are plenty, and no previous experience is necessary.

The nature program offers monthly two-hour natural science workshops for adults interested in sharing their love of nature with school children. Volunteers then spend approximately an hour and a half a month to share what they’ve learned. The schedule, determined by the volunteer and the teacher, is generally flexible.

Training sessions take place at the One World Conservation Center in Bennington from 9 to 11 a.m. on the second Friday of the month, in September, October, November, January, February and April. Attending every training session is not mandatory  This year’s program focuses on Ecosystems. For details call Lois Davis, at 802-447-1907 or visit fwni.org.
