From Forest to Table
Quality hardwood logs stand for many decades under the careful stewardship of Vermont’s woodland owners, foresters, loggers and sawmill operators who put the raw materials in the hands of woodworkers. Learn about the process at the 11th annual Vermont Fine Furniture, Woodworking and Forest Festival, Saturday and Sunday, September 27 and 28, at the Union Arena, Route 4, Woodstock, Vt. Forest Festival weekend is right down the road at the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park on Elm Street. Products on exhibit and for sale include fine furniture, exquisite bird carvings, hand-turned bowls, unique cutting boards, solar wooden lights, inlaid jewelry, toys and games.
There will be woodworking and sawmill demonstrations, horse-drawn wagon rides, forest walks, workshops and more, with food, hands-on activities and live music. A short, complimentary shuttle ride is available to transport attendees between locations with free parking. The festival runs from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $10 for those 18 and over, which helps to support the Vermont wood products industry; those under age 18 are free. For details, visit vermontwoodfestival.org or call 802-747-7900.
