The community is invited to enter a Gingerbread House competition being hosted by Brook Valley Appliance, as part of the Manchester and the Mountains Chamber of Commerce Manchester Merriment activities this holiday season. There will be three levels of judging: youth, adult and professional. Prizes sponsored by the Vermont Country Store, JK Adams and Brook Valley will be awarded to the most creative in each category. The entry fee is $25; entries must be delivered to the store by December 14. The houses will be on display through December 23. Proceeds from this competition will go to support our local food cupboards.

Ellen Ogden will demonstrate how to construct a gingerbread house on Saturday December 7, at 11 a.m. in the BVA kitchen, to jump start the competition. Attendees will leave with a special bag of candy from the Vermont Country Store to help them decorate their own creations. Tickets are $25 per person include the entry fee for the competition. On December 14, Ali West of HN Williams Department Store in Dorset will share fun cookie ideas for holiday giving in the BVA Kitchen at 11 a.m. Tickets for this event are $15. A percentage of the proceeds from both of these demos will also go to support Manchester Merriment and the local food cupboards.
