GREEN UP DAY IS MAY 4
Held on the first Saturday in May since 1970, Green Up Day is the largest state-wide volunteer event in Vermont. According to greenupvermont.org over 22,000 volunteers at last year’s event used more that 56,000 of the signature green bags to collect up to 300 tons of trash along roadsides throughout the state. Celebrate spring, community and a litter-free state by joining family, friends and neighbors to help keep your community clean and green. Be sure to wear work gloves, bug repellent and sunscreen. If you can, wear white or bright colors for visibility. Rakes, shovels, brooms and other tools might come in handy. You can visit the website for a list by county of participating towns, but we’ve assembled a few local events here.
