House Blend to Perform in Weston
On Sunday, March 30, at 4 p.m., the Hearts and Voices Performance Series will present the popular a capella vocal group, House Blend, in concert at Weston’s Old Parish Church. The performance will be followed by light refreshments.
House Blend formed in 2006 when a group of experienced singers, many of whom had been singing together for years, decided to try something new – a democratic leadership style in which any member can be a conductor and/or present new material to the group. The experiment has succeeded, and House Blend is now almost eight years old. The infectious energy of House Blend engages the audience with a passion for songs of joy, love, beauty, romance, spirit, reverence, strength, community and humor. Their repertoire includes folk, spirituals, gospel, Appalachian, and jazz, South African freedom songs, Renaissance madrigals, contemporary Latin chant, Bach and more.
House Blend returned to the Loire region of France in July 2013 for another successful exchange with their sister chorus, “Cantoria”. Their concert at Weston will include some of the newest songs from the concerts in France and other new material. Patrons are asked to donate $10 each to benefit three neighborhood food pantries.
Old Parish Church is located on Route 100, on the left as you enter Weston from the south. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to be certain of getting a seat. Anyone with questions can check oldparishchurch.org or call Chris Perry at 802-824-4248.
