‘Java & Jive’ Coffee House to Raise Funds for Pember Library
Calling all singers, poets, troubadours and coffee hounds! The Pember Library and Museum in Granville, N.Y., will run a ‘Coffee House Java and Jive’ fundraiser on Friday, July 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. The event will feature musicians, entertainers and poets at an open mike, board games along with a range of brews – flavored coffees, cappuccino, espresso – along with coffee cakes and pastries for sale.
“This will be an event unlike anything we’ve done,” enthused Pember Board president, Mary King. “The Pember will undergo a décor makeover that will transform it to a 1960s coffee house. We’re hoping to recapture those vibes. There will be an exotic atmosphere with low lighting, candles and incense, and a spotlight on an open mike for whoever wants to entertain. Like wow…”
If you play an instrument or sing, write poetry or have something you’d like to say, you are invited to perform at the Coffee House. It’s an open call. Or just come for the coffee; freshly ground coffee will be on all burners. Admission is free. For more information, call the Pember at 518-642-1515.
