Outsiders Art and Collectibles will hold an opening reception to welcome new exhibitor Karl Mullen on January 24, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served, and live music will be performed by Mullen on guitar and banjo, David Chernis on steel guitar and Cassandra Cleghorn on fiddle.

The gallery is located in the lodge at the Inn At Willow Pond, in Manchester, Vt.

Mullen, born in Ireland, lives in Williamstown, Mass., in a studio that was the cow stall of a 19th-century barn. He uses walnut oil, raw powder pigment and a wax medium to create color-saturated images, painting largely by hand on artist-stock Arches paper, old book pages, sheet music, photographs and other ephemera. His paintings have been showcased in the PBS series, Rare Visions & Roadside Revelations, in art/design magazines and at galleries nationwide. The exhibit runs until February 12.
