Knitted Knocker Night Returns

Knitters of all levels are invited to come to a Knitted Knocker Night at JOY to create prosthetic breasts for mastectomy patients.

Knitters of all levels are invited to come to a Knitted Knocker Night at JOY to create prosthetic breasts for mastectomy patients.

Knitters of all levels are invited to come to a Knitted Knocker Night at JOY all things underthings, 4732 Main Street, Manchester, Vt. on Thursday, September 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. Knitted knockers are prosthetic breasts for mastectomy patients. When placed in a bra, these knitted breasts take the shape and feel of a real breast. The knit fabric makes knockers a lighter and more comfortable alternative to silicone prosthetics.

Patterns and expert knitting advice will be provided by Black Sheep Yarns in Dorset. Please bring a #4 needle (#5 if tight knitter or #3 if loose knitter) and soft DK weight cotton yarn you can spare. There will be yarn available at the event. JOY and Black Sheep Yarns have given away dozens of knitted knockers since they first joined forces in this cause in February.  Knockers of all sizes are available at both locations and are free. This is the second Knitted Knocker Night and has been timed to coincide with this year’s Race for the Cure. If you have any questions on the event, please call JOY at 802-362-BRAS or Black Sheep Yarns at 802-362-2411. Non-knitters are welcome to come to support the knitters and be part of the community event. Donations of snacks are welcome and can be brought to JOY anytime on September 18.
