Luncheon with Author to Benefit Neighbor to Neighbor
The Bank of Bennington has donated to Neighbor to Neighbor to underwrite a fundraising luncheon featuring bestselling author Archer Mayor. The ‘Neighbor’s Book’ Luncheon is organized by Neighbor to Neighbor, a local volunteer organization that helps housebound people remain independent and connected to the community. Kate Coss, executive director of Neighbor to Neighbor, said “We are extremely grateful for The Bank of Bennington’s support, which enables us organize this wonderful and fun fundraiser.”
Neighbor to Neighbor started out with friendly visits. Over 30,000 volunteer hours have been logged since its startup, Now, with 60 active volunteers, Neighbor to Neighbor has been able to expand events and services to cover towns throughout the Manchester area. Services can be shopping trips, transportation and friendly visits; events range from shuttle trips to Shelburne Farms, garden tours, and concerts. Jim Comar, Bank of Bennington’s vice president, Northshire Region, said, “We are honored to support Neighbor to Neighbor in their passion for strengthening and enriching our community.” The guest speaker for the luncheon, Archer Mayor of Newfane, Vt., has used his real-life experience as a death investigator and police detective to write several bestselling mystery novels. His 25th book in the series will be released just before the luncheon on Wednesday, October 8, at the Manchester Country Club. Tickets are $45.00.
