Manchester Garden Club Plant Sale
Don’t miss the Garden Club of Manchester all-new annual Plant, Bake and Tag Sale will be held on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, at Manchester Community Library. Hardy perennials from member gardens and potted herbs will be for sale at very reasonable prices, along with baked goods and all things gardening – tools, pots, books and ornaments; everything’s half price at noon.
Proceeds from the sale fund GCM’s civic beautification projects and scholarship program. Club members design, plant and maintain baskets, boxes and planters in Manchester, Dorset and East Dorset; design and maintain parts of the Manchester Town Green; and create weekly floral arrangements for Yester House at Southern Vermont Arts Center and the Manchester Community Library.
This will be the 26th year that GCM will make and hang Christmas wreaths at area municipal buildings and churches. The Botany Trail at SVAC is also maintained by Club members. GCM has provided scholarships to Smokey House Center and the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps that benefit projects related to horticulture and the environment. Scholarships are also awarded each year to local graduating high school seniors pursuing an education in environmental studies, agribusiness, botany or any related course of study.
