Mother’s Day Cakes Raise $388 for Vermont Race for the Cure
Manchester’s Mother Myrick’s Confectionery’s Decorate a Cake for Mom on Mother’s Day fundraiser has raised $388 for Vermont-New Hampshire Komen for the Cure. The annual event, which invites kids to decorate a Mother Myrick’s cake for their own mothers, has been a local tradition for a dozen years or more. “It’s just a lot of fun, all for a good cause,” said Jacki Baker, who owns Mother Myrick’s with her husband, Ron. “The kids have a blast, they’re very proud of their work and come up with some truly amazing cakes, and the moms really love their gifts. The fact that their efforts help to fight breast cancer is the icing on the cake. Literally.” This year’s Komen Vermont Race for the Cure takes place at Hildene Meadows, on September 20.
