Musicals Launch Weston Season
‘Pump Boys and Dinettes’ opens on the MainStage, Tuesday, June 30. A Broadway favorite, it serves up an evening of songs filled with heartbreak and hilarity. The cast features composer/performer Joe Iconis (NBC’s ‘Smash’) and his “family” of actor/singer/musicians who accompany themselves on piano, guitar, bass, and kitchen utensils. Weston director Tim Fort calls them a “dream team” that sparks on stage with unstoppable energy and honesty, and describes the production as “charming, simple, direct, and brimming with catchy tunes and lovable characters.” ‘Pump Boys and Dinettes’ runs through Saturday, July 11.
The family-friendly Young Company production of ‘Junie B. Jones the Musical’ opened on Thursday, June 25, at Weston Rod and Gun Club. Created by the esteemed writing team of Marcy Heisler and Nina Goldrich, ‘Junie’ is an hour-long, family-friendly production. Malcolm Ewen directs Weston’s Young Company, an ensemble of seven undergraduate students hand-picked from the country’s top musical theatre programs, who re-create several of Park’s Junie B. vignettes for an afternoon of fun, light-hearted family fun. It runs through Sunday, July 12. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Weston Box Office at 802-824-5288 or by visiting westonplayhouse.org.
