National Snowshoe Championships – and Snowshoe Races for All – at Woodford’s Prospect Mountain, This Weekend
The 2014 Dion U.S. National Snowshoe Championship Races woll be at Prospect Mountain Nordic Ski Center in Woodford, Vt., on Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2, and is expected to attract over 300 competitors who have qualified in previous U.S. Snowshoe Association races. The competition will feature 10K championship races for men and women and a 5K race for juniors. A 4X 2.5K relay is scheduled for Sunday, March 2.
After the national competition, challenge yourself in the Woodford Wonderfest, a 5K public race at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, and the Uphill Challenge on Sunday at 11 a.m. These events are open to anyone, at any skill level, and do not require qualification or a membership in the national association. Loaner snowshoes will be provided by the lead event sponsor, Dion Snowshoes, and may be reserved on the website below. The event is co-sponsored by the National Association and the Prospect Mountain Ski Club. Net proceeds will be donated to Prospect Mountain’s Bill Koch Youth Ski League and the Mount Anthony Union High School Cross Country Ski team.
