Pablo Aslan Quintet to Perform
Williams College Department of Music presents the Pablo Aslan Quintet on Monday, October 6, at 8 p.m., in the Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall. Pablo Aslan also holds a same-day master class featuring talented Williams music students at 4:15 p.m. These events are free and open to the public.
The quintet features Pablo Aslan, an Argentine-born performer who has taken his unique and energetic brand of jazz-infused tango to stages around the world. Aslan has performed and recorded with Yo-Yo Ma, Shakira, Lalo Schifrin, Joe Lovano, Gary Burton, the New World Symphony and the Philadelphia Orchestra, among many others. He has produced over a dozen albums including the 2007 Latin Grammy Winner “Te Amo Tango” by Uruguayan bandoneonist Raul Jaurena.
Aslan has produced educational programs for Lincoln Center Institute, Carnegie Hall Neighborhood Concerts, and Arts Connection in NYC, and he has lectured and taught at several universities throughout the US, including Harvard, Yale, and UCLA. He is currently the Artistic Director of the Reed Tango Music Institute in Portland, Oregon.
The Pablo Aslan Quintet is at Williams as part of the Ernest Brown World Music Series, which brings musicians from across the globe to share their musical talents with the Williams community.
