Paramount Theatre Announces New Season
The historic Paramount Theatre, located at 30 Center Street in downtown Rutland, has unveiled its 2019/2020 season. “We are proud of our contribution to our community’s continued growth and revitalization. To that end, we take very seriously our role as the ‘Jewel of Downtown Rutland.’ This season, like those that have preceded it, are testament to that commitment. With something for everyone, from rock music to opera, country music to ballet, the 2019/2020 season promises to bring the joy and excitement that our audiences have come to expect from this organization. The lights at 30 Center Street have never been brighter!” expressed Eric Mallette, programming director. “And, as we always do, we have more than a few surprises up our sleeves that will be revealed as the season rolls out!”
Highlights include Scott Stapp: The Space Between the Shadows Tour’ on Thursday, September 19; ‘The Four Italian Tenors’ on Friday, September 20; ‘Sesame Street Live!’ on Saturday, September 21; ‘Cheap Trick’ on Saturday, September 28; ‘Arlo Guthrie: Alice’s Restaurant Back by Popular Demand Tour’ on Wednesday, October 2; and much more. In addition to mainstage performances, a full season of Metropolitan Operas will be screened as part of the theatre’s seventh season of ‘Live in HD’ from the Metropolitan Opera series.
Tickets to all shows are now on sale exclusively to members of the theatre; the general public may purchase them beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 24. Tickets are available online at paramountvt.org, and at the Box Office adjacent to the theatre’s main entrance, or call 802-775-0903. Hours are Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and from 12 noon through curtain time on all show days.
This week, the Paramount Theatre will offer a free summer movie on the big screen. Disney/Pixar’s smash-hit, ‘Monsters, Inc.,’ will be shown on Thursday, August 22, at 7 p.m.’ John Goodman and Billy Crystal star in this animated feature. No admission will be charged for this family film, rated G; the doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and concessions wll be available for purchase.
