Poultney Memory Lights
The Memory Light Tree located in front of the town hall has been a Christmas tradition in Poultney for many years. It was started as a way to remember deceased loved ones at Christmas. It’s also a wonderful way to help the community, since proceeds go to the Food Shelf and the Women’s Club Tree of Giving. The cost of a light is $1 per name. The Memory Light Tree is lit by Santa when he comes to town in early December. This event is sponsored by Saint Raphael’s Ladies Guild. Lights will be on sale at the following locations: Marcie’s Hair Studio, East Main Street, Poultney; TOT’s Diner and the Original Vermont Store, both on Main Street; the Craft Fair on November 29 and 30; Discount Food of Poultney on November 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Saint Raphael Church on Saturday, November 23 at 4 p.m. Mass and Sunday, November 24, at 10 a.m. Mass. You may also send a check made out to Saint Raphael’s Ladies Guild to: P. Beatty, 751 Hampshire Hollow Road, Poultney, VT 05764.
