The Courthouse Community Center in Salem, N.Y. will proudly feature its upcoming exhibit, ‘In Orbit,’ with an opening reception scheduled for Friday, August 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibit in the Great Hall will showcase the work of Jordan Becker, master potter and manager of the pottery studio at the Courthouse. Becker’s annual exhibit will include pieces that have been wood-fired in the anagama kiln at Salem Art Works – unique tableware and fascinating spheres inspired by celestial bodies.

With this exhibit, Jordan continues his exploration of ceramic spheres composed of different elements including steel, concrete and wood. The fine line between the beauty of the earth and the dramatic changes brought about by the intense heat of the wood fire contribute to the drama of his work.

The exhibit will remain on display until early October. The Courthouse Community Center is located at 58 East Broadway in Salem, N.Y., and the Great Hall is handicapped accessible.
