Shakespeare in the Woods
Shakespeare in the Woods, an unconventional outdoor theatre festival, at the Northshire Civic Center/Riley Rink in Manchester, continues this weekend, Thursday, August 29 to Sunday, September 1, with a modern take on ‘Romeo and Juliet.’ Two feuding families – one local, the other, summer people – from very different sides of the tracks clash in a small town in Vermont. Each has a young daughter; the sacrifices they are forced to make for the chance to be together set everything tumbling towards the unforgettable tragic conclusion of the most famous romance of all time. ‘The Taming of the Shrew,’ a comedic battle of the sexes, will be performed from September 5 to 8. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door for adults; students 12 and under are $12. They are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Go to rileyrink.com and click on the Special Events tab. Create an account or log, then select the play and performance date/time, or call Lisa Larson at 802-362-0150.
