Merck Forest and Farmland Center invites visitors to explore the working landscape on a sleigh this winter. Until the end of March, MFFC is offering visitors the chance to take a scenic ride around its mountaintop farm on a horse-drawn sleigh. Families and groups are welcome to rent the 12-person sleigh, or we will try to accommodate smaller groups together (the sleigh must have a minimum of eight people to run). The cost is $15 per adult, $12 per child 2 to12; under age 2 are free. Couples can try the Sweetheart Sleigh, a sleigh built for two. The one-hour tour will take you around around the wintry landscape of the farm and forest. The sweetheart sleigh runs consistently on weekends 11 a.m., 12:15 p.m., and 1:30 p.m., but weekdays can be booked as well. Cost for the sweetheart sleigh is $150/hour. Reservations and a prepayment are required for all people wishing to attend. Please call 24 hours in advance. More information is available at merckforest.org, or by calling 802-394-7836. Money will be refunded if the staff determines that the weather conditions are unsafe for the sleigh to run. Merck Forest and Farmland Center is located at 3270 Route 315 in Rupert, Vt.
