Unlike some folks who have seen enough snow for one season, Felicia Blanchard is eager for it to keep coming. An LTS ski team member since ninth grade, Blanchard missed her sophomore year on the slopes due to a broken pelvis. Now a junior, she placed third overall in girls snowboarding for the state. In early March, Blanchard competed in half-pipe, giant slalom and slopestyle in the Vermont State Finals. While final competitions might end a season for some, Blanchard says she will snowboard any day that she can. “I like getting outside and being active,” she comments. “There’s nothing better than riding with my friends and doing something that I love. All my worries and troubles disappear on the slopes.” Blanchard stays motivated by competing informally with her peers as they practice. Director of Athletics Scott Magrath could not be happier for her or more proud to have her represent LTS. Magrath notes, “To miss a year of competition and then earn third place overall speaks volumes about not just her snowboarding ability but her drive and will to succeed. There were high expectations for Felicia and she exceeded them. It will be tough to beat third overall, but I know she is going to give it her best next winter.”
