Sondheim’s ‘Into the Woods’
Monument Mountain Regional High School is pleased to announce its spring musical ‘Into the Woods’ at the Kathleen E. McDermott Auditorium at MMRHS. The show runs Thursday through Saturday, March 27, 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 30, at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available in advance at the high school office and at the show. ‘Into the Woods,’ by Stephen Sondheim, intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm with an original story involving a childless baker, his wife and a witch. At the end of Act I, all characters seem poised to live ‘happily ever after.’ Act Two, however, deals with the characters after that, when they face a genuine threat to their community, realize actions have consequences and that their lives are inescapably interdependent.
This year’s production features more than 50 students in the cast, crew, and pit orchestra. The show is directed by MMRHS faculty member Linnea Macé, who has been working on productions at the high school since 1992. For more information, contact Julia Russell at [email protected] or 413-441-1032.
