St. Patrick’s Day Parade Tradition Continues
TJ Carmody may be enjoying the warm weather in the Florida, but his legacy continues in Bennington. On Sunday, March 16, as the annual Bennington Saint Patrick’s Day Parade gets underway at 1 p.m., everyone will be tipping their hat to TJ, the founder of the annual event. The parade begins at the old middle school and makes its way down Main Street, where it turns north on Depot Street and heads for the finish at the Bennington fire station. All the regular floats and entertainers will be returning, and this year, Grand Marshall Mary Geanellis will be accompanied by Bridget Ahearn, parade Colleen, and her court. There will be bagpipers, bands, fire trucks, dancers, floats and candy for everyone. If you have an organization that would like to participate, contact the Better Bennington Corporation. Also, along the parade route, you can stop at Madison’s, where you’ll find The Black Mountain Symphony playing Irish music beginning at 1 p.m. On Sunday, March 16, starting at 9:30 a.m., the Kegs and Eggs fundraiser will be held at J.C.’s Tavern; it will feature a breakfast buffet with an Irish band, bagpiper and raffles. Funds will go to the Coalition for the Homeless. For more information visit BetterBennington.com or call 442-5758.
