String Ensemble for Local Students
The Manchester Music Festival is offering an opportunity to string players ages 9 to 16 (violin, viola and cello), to participate in the Manchester Youth Ensemble, directed by Joana Genova. Students must have at least two years of experience playing an instrument and be able to read notes comfortably.
The repertoire ranges from Baroque to fiddling tunes, and students will learn how to work as a team in an ensemble and follow a conductor. Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays, 5 to 6 p.m. at Festival House in Manchester Village, Vt. October 15, 22 and 29; November 5, 12 and 19; and December 10 and 30. The fee is $50 for all eight rehearsals.
The ensemble will perform at the opening of the new community library in Manchester on November 15, at the Michael Rudiakov Music Academy (MRMA) recital on November 23 and the MMF family concert on December 31.
Manchester Music Festival is a year-round organization offering classical music performances and music education of the highest caliber. For more information or to sign up, please contact MMF’s Education Director Joana Genova at [email protected]
