Summer Camp with a Tech Twist
GNAT hosted two summer camps, Kids Cook Camp and Introduction to Stop Motion Animation. Campers that attended the cooking camp received hands-on experience producing their own cooking show from start to finish. Skills included set design, camera set-up and operation, studio directing, cooking recipes from scratch, and creating a cookbook. Animation camp students learned to develop and create characters and sets, and learned different filming and editing techniques. At the end of the week each team walked away with an original stop-motion animation project.
“GNAT’s Summer Camps are an integral part of our new youth education programs,” said GNAT’s executive director Tammie Reilly.
Thirty percent of the camp attendees received scholarships based on financial need, made possible through GNAT DVD sales, individual donations and support from local business sponsors.GNAT will broadcast the two-part ‘Highlights from GNAT’s 2014 Summer Camps’ on Channel 16 (10 in Stratton) on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30 a.m./p.m. and Saturday at 8 a.m./p.m.; and on Channel 8 in Weston and Londonderry on Tuesday at 6:30 a.m./p.m. and Saturday at 7a.m./p.m. You can also catch the show online at gnat-tv.org.
