Talk on ‘Demystifying Hemp’
Hemp. CBD. Miracle cure-all or illegal substance? If you feel slightly confused by the recent explosion in all things hemp, Chris Bowlen and Maria Reade will offer a presentation called ‘Demystifying Hemp’ on Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m. Sponsored by the Bennington Garden Club, the talk will take place at the Federated Church of East Arlington. Bowlen is co-founder of Mettawee Valley Hemp Company based in Rupert; Reade is managing editor of Edible Green Mountains magazine. They will share their knowledge of one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world. “Hemp is the healthful, legal and non-psychoactive cousin of cannabis,” Reade says. “Unfortunately it often gets a bad rap since many people don’t understand the scope of its medicinal and nutritional benefits.” Bowlen co-founded Mettawee Valley Hemp in 2017 with his business partner Ben Mitthoefer. The company produces hemp-infused honey, coconut oil and full-spectrum extract. He will explain the uses and benefits of each product and shed light on the history and current interest in hemp. Products will be available for sale, along with a chance to sample light refreshments featuring CBD. The event is free and open to the public. The Federated Church of East Arlington is located at 102 Ice Pond Road in Arlington. For more information, call Judy Cotter at 802-375-0085.
