The Story of Snowboarding in Dorset
The Dorset Historical Society’s Third Thursday Lunch Lecture on February 21 will feature Brian Knight, author of ‘Snowboarding in Vermont: from Burton to the U.S. Open.’ The new sport of snowboarding began with Burton Snowboards – first made in Londonderry, then Manchester. Knight, a Dorset resident and architectural historian, worked at Stratton Mountain in the ‘80s and early ‘90s when snowboarding was on the rise, and has closely followed its story. His talk will take place at Bley House Museum at Route 30 and Kent Hill Road in Dorset Village at 12 noon. Bring a sandwich; beverages and desserts are provided.
