The Dorset School’s Geo Bee Champion for 2014 is eighth grader John Sebastian Thorn. The contest began with top participants competing to answer questions, including Tucker Kelly, runner-up; Stephen Mathyas, third place; Davi Panetta, Jonathan Saunders, Ethan Lareau, Aedan Walsh, Meaghan Curran, Logan Sands and Charlie Citron. History teacher Nate Merrill prepared his students well, and was particularly pleased with the strength of the younger students with four of the ten finalists coming from the sixth grade. John Sebastian Thorn, who has won the last three school Geo Bee contests, will now take a written test to become eligible for the state Bee. Up to 100 of the top scorers will be eligible to compete in the state Bee held on April 4, for the honor of representing the Dorset School at the state level.
