Vieux Farka Touré in Troy
Dubbed the “Hendrix of the Sahara” by critics, Vieux Farka Touré mixes tradition from his roots in Mali with American blues and jazz to create a shimmering sonic fusion. His new album “Mon Pays (My Country)” was recorded as homage to his homeland, which has been splintered by violence. Vieux Farka Touré will be performing with his quartet at the Sanctuary for Independent Media on Thursday, October 24, at 7.
Advance tickets are available at brownpapertickets.com. Some tickets will also be available at the door. The Sanctuary for Independent Media is located at 3361 6th Avenue in North Troy; visit the website mediasanctuary.org, call 518-272-2390, or email [email protected] for directions and more information.
This performance is made possible by volunteer labor, small financial contributions from thousands of patrons of The Sanctuary for Independent Media and support from the New York State Council on the Arts.
