VT Watercolor Society Exhibit
The Vermont Watercolor Society’s fall members show will open this Saturday, November 16, at the Bennington Center for the Arts.
The group, formed in 1995, now has over 240 members. The group’s goal is to provide venues for participation, education, fellowship and exhibitions. This is one of three exhibitions that the VWS has held this year. Artists do not need to reside in Vermont to become members, but the majority do call the state home. The staff at the Bennington juried this particular show. Twenty-seven pieces, ranging from portraits, florals, seascapes and still-lifes will be on exhibit and for sale until December 22. Frank Costantino of Winthrop, Mass., is going to be the Juror of Awards. An award-winning architectural artist and member of the New England Watercolor Society and the Salmugundi Club in New York City, Costantino will be in attendance to select the winners and make the announcements during the opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Also currently on view at the center, is the Plein Air Vermont exhibition that opened in September. Both shows will be up until late December. Much of the art center’s permanent collection of wildlife and Native American artwork is also on exhibit. The non-profit Bennington Center for the Arts is located just west of town on Vermont Route 9 at 44 Gypsy Lane. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Monday. More information is available at thebennington.org, or by calling 802-442-7158.
