Wells Variety Day Fair
The 37th annual Variety Day Fair, presented by the Wells United Methodist Church, takes place on Saturday, July 19, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Forty vendors will offer antiques, flea items, art, crafts, collectibles, specialty foods, body care items, plants and herbs, and several church tables will have items for sale. Special presentations this year are: Second Nature Herb Farm will surprise you with much that you may not know about herbs, and herbs you may not have even heard of. Tim Conwell discuss making his wooden Native American style flutes – every limb or sapling creates its own unique sound. Stewart Dittmeier of Country Horizon Apiary will discuss honey bees, the threats they face, and how our food supply depends upon them. The ladies’ Vermont Food Court will provide Cabot cheese and macaroni, maple baked beans, maple link sausages, potato salad, fruit salads and strawberry shortcake with real whipped cream. Then there is the burger stand with dogs, burgers, Italian sausages and beverages. Top it all off at the Stewarts ice cream booth. A Sawdust Pile Treasure Hunt for youth of all ages begins at 10 a.m. See how many coins you can find! Then there are the games: tug-of-war, bag race, three-legged race and several others. The winners get prizes. Special entertainment includes Karaoke at 11 a.m. and dancing in the street from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine.
