Weston Rod & Gun Club to Host Course, ‘Basics of Handguns’
The Weston Rod and Gun Club will host a course on the ‘Basics of Handguns,’ from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4 and 11, at the Club, located at 982 Route 100 in Weston The course will cover safety, gun types and actions, proper handling and use, parts and operation, ammunition, shooting, maintenance and storage, in addition to the selection and purchase of a handgun. A mandatory live fire familiarization from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, will be held at the Kehoe Conservation Camp shooting range in Bomoseen. During live fire, class students will familiarize themselves with different handguns; all equipment will be supplied, or attendees may bring their own hand gun.
The course consists of six hours of class time and six hours of range time. Pre-registration is required; call Jake Hart at 802-824-6140. Class size is limited; a $50 deposit is required to reserve a seat. The total cost of the course is $100. (Military veterans receive a ten percent discount.)
